Jonah Goldberg is hilariously wrong about the debates. He argues that the divisions in the Republican party demonstrate intellectual health and the robustness of conservative philosophy. What a maroon.
Except for a handful of back-to-basics conservative writers (Sullivan, Will), the Republican party has no philosophy. They have capitalist, Christianist, xenophobic biases but that's not the same as intellectual rigor.
I think Jonah has joined the ranks of conservatives who can't quite grasp the fact that the tribal Republican party no longer fits the academic model.
