Another New Football League?

Three things that are wrong with this latest attempt to cash in on the success of American football.

First, business people, incapable of ever doing anything new, insist on repeating the same mistakes over and over. Do they not remember the USFL? The WFL? The XFL? NFL Europe!!!

Secondly, they don't understand how football fits into the rhythms of American life. It is a sport that must be played in the Autumn for one thing. More importantly, in places like Texas and Ohio where football is life, the weekends in the fall are built around High School on Fridays, College on Saturdays, and Pro on Sundays. That's how it's meant to be.

Thirdly, every new league ruins itself with cheesy nicknames. Any new league should be restricted to cities and colors until the fans give the team a name. I'd much rather see Denver F.C. against Ohio United, than the Crushers against the Stompers.
