BSG Returns

I've been really up and down with this show since the beginning.

The mini-series was pretty meh for me because I wanted more nostalgia and less angst then I ended up getting.

Season 1 started weakly but grew, building on the paranoia of the cylon infiltrators and then started layering in the mythology.

Season 2 built on season 1 (and was probably the best of the bunch) but then ended with the headscratching leap forward to New Caprica.

Season 3 brilliantly turned New Caprica into Baghdad, but lost its way once we were safely back in space and turned the focus on Baltar. The "All Along The Watchtower" finale was one of the greatest imaginative failures I've ever seen on TeeVee, and demonstrated that the writers no longer had any idea what to do with the show. The selection of the four cylons was at once arbitrary and also a way for the writers to try to juice up a show that they'd obviously gotten tired of.

The first half was Season 4 was equally dismal, but ended with a strong arc that got us to Earth. Post-apocalyptic Earth. While you might want to tune in for the canibalistic zombie cylons, I'm sure what we'll get is a lot more moping, navel-gazing and in-fighting. I just want to see who the final cylon is so I can put this thing to bed. My top candidates:
  1. Ellen Tigh
  2. Felix Gaeta
  3. Doc Cottle
  4. Elosha
  5. Dodona Seloi*
  6. Kat
  7. Dualla
  8. Zarek
  9. Starbuck
  10. Baltar
* Dodona Seloi was an oracle played by Amanda Plummer in just one episode. But I think she'd be an awesome cylon.
