Wizard of Oz

It has been noted that the Wizard of Oz is a uniquely American fairy tale. It should also be noted that it is a story in which the women are powerful, the men are broken and incomplete, and the girl that gets the ruby slippers wins. No wonder its themes can so readily be found in everything from Wicked to the works of David Lynch to Lost.
