College Football Week 3

Things I learned from the weekend:

Ohio State showed that they know how to rebuild a team from one season to the next. Even if Washington isn't USC (or Cal or Oregon or UCLA for that matter), it takes a lot for a Big Ten team to go on the road on the West Coast and come out with a victory. We saw a lot of Tressel ball (opportunistic defense and field position) and a lot of improvements on offense (thank you very much). I'm always amazed by how easily the defense takes over even with a small lead. It's no different than the way other teams use their offense to roll up the score and put games away. Kudos should also go to Washington's offense that featured the best up-and-coming quarterback the Bucks have seen since Phillip Rivers was at NC State.

Michigan was a good team playing badly for two games. Notre Dame is just bad.

The honor roll of juggernauts are all for real. USC, LSU, Florida, etc. I'm waiting for West Virginia to stumble though.

The Big Ten are all good, but noone is really head and shoulders great. Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, Purdue, etc. are all beat-able. The question is who will survive.

OSU doesn't need to win the national championship this year, but a BCS bowl would be huge. That and a Big Ten title.

It was probably a good thing that Colorado State had the weekend off. Gives them a chance to recover and refresh after two tough losses against Colorado and Cal. They can score which is a good sign. And with Air Force beating TCU, the Mountain West is now wide open.
