Lost - "Left Behind"

Hey, I liked this episode. There I said it. It was enjoyable in a watchable sort of way that was very reminiscent of a television watching experience.

Which is just my way of saying it was good without actually being good. Which is not a criticism.

So why did I like it?
  • Kate flashbacks are always good. Since season 1, she was the first character to clue us in on the fact that things were not right with our survivors. AND, she was supposed to be the heroine.
  • Kate meeting Cassidy from Sawyer's backstory was a nice cross-over.
  • The Marshall. He always calls her Austen, and he's always tough even though he's like the Wiley Coyote of U.S. Marshalls.
  • Kate and her mother were completely believable. They were both wounded and angry and convincing.
  • Locke's departure. Is he off to settle things with his father?
  • The Others. Once again abandoning a location they called home.
  • The Kate vs. Juliet thing was lame, but...
  • The monster was scary, and...
  • The dislocated shoulder was unpleasant.
  • Hurley conning Sawyer into being nice. Funny, but then kind of lame, but actually pretty funny. Hurley, Sawyer, and the beach people are the best.
  • Sawyer clearly needs to make things right with Sun.
  • Uptight Dr. Jack. Heh.
  • Chagrined Sayid. Although it looks like he's not done with Juliet the plant.
Anyway, this episode had just the right mix of mystery, drama, scares, and comedy to keep me entertained. Bare minimum requirements. We'll get back to revelations and surprises some other time. I'm certain of it.
